Co-op Credit Union of Montevideo has an outstanding opportunity for an experienced and motivated leader to oversee and manage all aspects of the credit union's operations. The next President/CEO will bring a blend of experience in the areas of strategic planning, human relations, lending, communication and problem solving skills. The candidate must have demonstrated abilities to represent the credit union on a local and non-local level.
Company Profile
The Co-op Credit Union was organized in 1940 when the co-operative movement was going strong in the rural areas. Nine people who believed in the co-op movement and the impact it had on the financial well-being of people met and the idea of a credit union was born. The Co-op Credit Union was chartered by the Minnesota Department of Commerce in April of 1940, with the original field of membership being patrons of several co-ops. In 1986, the Co-op Credit Union merged in the Benson Community Credit Union and this became the first branch office. Also, the Clara City Co-op Credit Union was merged with the Co-op Credit Union. In 1996, the Co-op Credit Union purchased the assets of the Canby Co-op Credit Union and a branch office was opened in Canby, MN. In 2004, the Co-op Credit Union expanded their membership to include those who live, work, worship or attend school in the counties of Swift, Chippewa, Yellow Medicine, Lincoln, Lac Qui Parle, Kandiyohi, Renville, and Lyon. In 2004, a third branch office was opened in Willmar, MN. The Co-op Credit Union offers more than 12,000 members 4 convenient locations and several electronic ways of doing business. The Co-op Credit Union offers a whole realm of comprehensive products and services including serving our small farmers and business with the loans they need to have successful business. The Co-op Credit Union has a waiver from the NCUA to exceed the business lending cap. The Co-op Credit Union is committed to its membership and the communities it serves. For the past several years the credit union has awarded scholarships to area high school students and supports the United Way and various other charitable organizations. The Co-op Credit Union will continue to focus on their mission statement, “To provide members with financial services that contribute to their success.” The Co-op Credit Union is $164 million in assets.

The main office is located in Montevideo it is the county seat in Chippewa County, MN. The population of Montevideo is around 5,600 and is expected to grow comfortably over the next decade. Montevideo, a small community surrounded by lush farm fields is a wonderful place to live. The city is green and beautiful, with rivers, parks and bike trails winding through. Montevideo has a school system to envy, with a graduation rate of 97%. The medical campus includes a $40 million dollar hospital and clinic, a nursing home, an assisted living facility, and one of the best small V.A. clinics in the nation. Montevideo is a progressive, cultured community with a diversity of thoughts and ideas. The credit union has branch offices in the charming rural communities of Benson, Canby and Willmar MN.
